Luke Littler and his rivals for the Premier League title could be overworked by the time the tournament arrives in Nottingham in March.

The Bet MGM Premier League of Darts once again heads to Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena for night six on March 12, bringing with it some of the world’s most talented and well-known arrowsmiths.

However, just a few days prior, Littler and the best players from around the world will have competed for one of the most prestigious titles in the sport, the UK Open in Minehead.

If world champion Littler was to was to win in Cardiff on Thursday, March 5 on night five of the Premier League, then go all the way and win the UK Open from Friday to Sunday, he will have played between 78 and 136 legs of darts, all in a professional capacity in front of raucous crowds in both venues. The just three days later he and the other seven players who make up the Premier League field will be rocking up in Nottingham expected to perform at their best in front of a capacity crowd.

This can and in some cases has led to injury for players, with fatigue and dartitis two such symptoms that can rear their ugly head because of such busy and chaotic schedules.

These injuries can be damaging not just for the players, but also the fans who come to watch the greatest darts protagonists in the world who are unable to perform at the level expected because of burnout and fatigue.
