Nottingham Forest are stepping up their search for a striker in the closing fortnight of the January transfer window as they prepare to bid farewell to a summer signing.

Full-back Oleksander Zinchenko is on the verge of being recalled by Arsenal and sold on to Ajax after a disappointing spell at the City Ground following his deadline day loan acquisition back in September.

Forest are prioritising strikers this month to fire them further clear of the Premier League’s bottom three, given Arnaud Kalimuendo went out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt early on in January.

The Reds are reportedly interested in Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen and Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca, but prior to Forest flying out to play Sporting Braga in the Europa League on Thursday night, no deals had been put in place.

Reds Boss Sean Dyche said of his targets: “The obvious one is the striker area because we’re a bit short there. We are looking at various options to bring in. That’s the obvious one that jumps off the page.”
