Tommy Hamilton is in line to make his Nottingham rugby union debut on Friday night when the Archers resume their quest for a Champ Rugby play-off spot.
The seventh-placed Archers welcome relegation-threatened London Scottish to Lady Bay looking to bounce back from defeat at Ampthill three weeks ago.
Hamilton, a 22-year-old second row, joins from Taranaki in his native New Zealand on an 18-month contract.
Standing at 201cm and weighing 118kg, he will bring significant physical presence to Nottingham.
Hamilton has already made himself known to supporters since his arrival on January 15, saying in an Instagram video he is “super stoked to be here” and is looking forward to facing London Scottish.
He has described himself as a lineout leader who relishes the physical demands of forward play, saying he loves both lineouts and scrummaging.
Head coach Craig Hammond said: “Tommy is a really exciting player with plenty of potential at top clubs in New Zealand.”
Despite losing to Ampthill last time out, Nottingham can take confidence from the reverse fixture with Scottish on October 12 when they secured a convincing 26-7 away win, scoring after just 23 seconds through captain David Williams.
