Martin Paterson says Crawley’s sudden flood of new players won’t change Notts County’s approach to this Saturday’s tie at Broadfield Stadium.
Crawley have made waves in the winter window, with three permanent transfers and three loanees coming in from a variety of clubs across Europe.
However, Notts boss Paterson says the recent changes haven’t led to him re-thinking the Magpies approach for the clash.
County come into the fixture off the back of a rough patch of form, having only gained one point from their last four, a run in which they suffered a big loss to midlands rivals Chesterfield away from home.
Their rhythm has been further interrupted by weather, with the game at Oldham on January 10 postposed due to bad weather.
Despite that Paterson remains confident the players can pull through and make a real push back towards the top of the table.
“If we look like ourselves for the 22 games (remaining), I’m quietly confident that we can go on,” he told Friday’s press conference.
“This group can take on anybody at this level when we’re at our best.” he added.
The Magpies remain partly hamstrung by injury, with Scott Robertson and Rod McDonald still out for at least ’10 to 14′ days according to the manager, however he still remained confident that the club are “getting bodies back”.
County sit in eighth in League Two, only a point away from rivals Chesterfield with a game in hand, and only four points off Walsall, who currently occupy the last automatic promotion place.
With this in mind the Magpies retain a very real shot of challenging for promotion.
“[the shape of league two] is quite boring to be honest, it’s tight and there’s no easy games,” Paterson said.
