Board game fans are celebrating the launch of Nottingham’s updated Monopoly-themed game in the Victoria Centre, 24 years since the original city version went on sale.
It features more than 30 of Nottingham’s most iconic landmarks including Nottingham Castle, The Robin Hood Statue and Old Market Square.
The Victoria Shopping Centre joined forces with the game designers Winning Moves to present prizes to charities listed on the board and competition winners.
Rebecca Parker, marketing assistant, said: “We are really excited to have a prominent feature on the board.
“We have Mr Monopoly wandering around the centre today and are running competitions where we have been hiding property square cards around the shopping centre.”
The Victoria Centre is awarding the Monopoly board to two competition winners for submitting a creative project on their favourite things about Nottingham.
One of the winners is a 16-year old schoolgirl who is undergoing hospital treatment and created a collage of all the things she loves about the city. Another young person entered a written poem about how much they love Nottinghamshire.
Homeless charity Emmanuel House was nominated by members of the public to feature on the board.
Emma Wall, a marketing and fundraising assistant at the charity, said: “It’s so nice that members of the public put a good word out for us.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to get our name out there and bring promotion for people to know who we are and what we do.
“Especially around this time of year, for people to come to us when they are struggling and need support.”
It is one of a number of charities to appear on the community chest space voted by the public which also includes When you Wish Upon a Star and Brinsley Animal Rescue.
Stockists of the game costing £35 are Nottingham Tourism and Travel centre, TG Jones and Waterstones.

Simon Redgate, manager at Nottingham Tourism and Travel Centre, said: “We are thrilled to be restocking the game. We stocked the original version 20 odd years ago and every Christmas we get asked if it’s in stock and finally we can say we got the new version.
“We have looked at the board, its absolutely brilliant and I think it will be on everyone’s Christmas list”.
The city’s two football stadiums, the Goose Fair and Net Go tram network also make an appearance on the board.
