Anti-racism protestors are planning to take a coachload of Nottingham residents down to London on Saturday February 1 for a counter-demonstration against the far-right.

This decision comes after jailed activist Tommy Robinson announced a demonstration to demand his release from prison where he is serving an 18-month sentence for contempt of court by repeating false claims against a Syrian refugee.

Richard Buckwell, a member of Stand Up To Racism Nottingham, said: “It’s very important that we bring down just numbers of people opposed to those ideas.

“We need it seen that they don’t represent the majority.”

Stand Up To Racism also offers help to students with monthly workshops at the NTU Global Lounge and will also run stalls during Global Week which is starting on 3rd February to 7th February.

Tickets for the coach which leaves at 8am are available on Eventbrite.
