Ellis Mee is a 21 year old rugby player originally from Nottingham now playing in the United Rugby Championships for Scarlets Rugby.
He was born in Nottingham and made his debut for the Championship club Nottingham Rugby 20 years later, making 22 appearances for the Archers last season, scoring seven tries.
Then after showing his quality, he secured a huge move to Welsh top flight Union team Scarlets.
Mee’s agent Richard Emms said: “He felt there were bigger opportunities in Wales at Scarlet’s as playing regularly for them creates the chance for representing the nation… His potential is huge and he’s only in his first year of professional rugby.”
Richard Emms said about Ellis: “I spotted him when he was playing for Nottingham when I was looking after two other players there and met him, one thing led to another and they passed his details on, I spoke to him and during the conversation he mentioned his mother was Welsh.”
“Leicester Tigers showed interest and that was the team that he grew up supporting, But when we visited Scarlets, he really liked what they had to say.”

He added: “In Wales we don’t have the numbers England have got, I feel they have been looking for a player like Ellis for some time… I think Wales will play him wing but as he matures and gets more game time he will play fullback like he is for Scarlet.” Richard believes his strongest qualities are that “he is athletically gifted”, he has composure and “he beats defenders”.
“Ultimately it’s every players dream to represent their country.”

The Six Nations is a huge competition because of the “rivalry goes back 150 years between the teams. This competition is something Quite special as we are very proud nations, of our culture and history. The atmosphere is always great.”
Emms said: “This year is also special because it will have an effect on the Lions squad selection… Ellis’ focus is on getting in the matchday 23 for Wales for now though.”

During his season at Nottingham Rugby Ellis truly made his mark as he was voted as the fans player of the year and overall player of the year, as well as several tries, including one against Premiership side Saracens. They finished in eighth place that season.
David Ross is Head of Rugby at Nottingham Trent, where Ellis is completing his third year remotely, Ross is also the assistant coach at the Archers, so has spent a lot of time working with him.
Ross provides a unique perspective of Mee’s time at the Archers, he said: “I recruited Ellis from Brooksby Melton College which is one of our partner teams as part of Tigers academy, and knew we wanted to offer him a scholarship at NTU.”
“He played his first year for NTU then signed for Nottingham Rugby. He had an outstanding season for Notts which deservedly landed his move to Scarlets.”

He added: “Ultimately it’s every players dream to represent their country at the highest standard and for someone to do so through the NTU pathway is great as he’s not the first to do so but is the most recent.”
Addressing the opportunities for young rugby players in Notts, David Ross said: “We know that we will always develop players… We don’t have the budget to buy big players but we have always found talent and helped them develop and hone that through the NTU pathway.”
“How quickly he has moved through the ranks is most impressive.”
