The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind on Friday for most parts of the UK.

Forecasters have warned of very strong winds across Nottinghamshire this weekend.

The Met Office said Storm Éowyn is expected to bring wind speeds of 50-60 mph inland on Friday, January 24, but this will gradually ease later in the day.

Some disruption is likely and there could be damage to buildings, with tiles blown from roofs, power cuts and transport delays.

People have been advised to secure loose items outside, check road conditions and public transport service updates before travelling and prepare emergency essentials.

Storm Éowyn will hit most parts of the UK on Friday with Scotland and coastal areas being impacted by up to 80 mph winds.

The forecast for Nottingham this week is showing low temperatures of around 7 degrees and highs of 11 degrees on Friday.

A high chance of rain is predicted during the day on Thursday and early Friday morning.

The weekend is mostly clear on Saturday with some sunny spells and temperatures of around 6 degrees but there is a chance of rain on Sunday evening.
