Notts County midfielder Dan Crowley has joined League Two rivals MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.
Crowley joined County after leaving Morecambe in June 2023 and had six months left to run on his Notts contract.
The 27-year-old contributed six assists and four goals in the last 18 matches with an average rating of 7.61 this season.
Prior to confirming Crowley’s transfer, County revealed the signing of Everton u21’s midfielder Charlie Whitaker.
Notts are currently fifth in League Two, with MK Dons in 12th.
Fans have expressed concern on whether their new signings will be able to replace the quality Crowley provided on the pitch.
X user Shaun Reid commented:
“Shocked at this, surely it’s a step in the wrong direction”

“gutted he has gone as players like Dan don’t come around to clubs like us often but after reading the club’s statement I’m already over it”
In a statement announcing the transfer, the Magpies said:
“While Dan has certainly been an influential figure for us, following the exciting additions of Will Jarvis and Charlie Whitaker, as well as the return to fitness of Conor Grant and Curtis Edwards, we have many strong options in his area of the pitch.”
New midfielder Whitaker, 21, is known for his goal scoring prowess both in midfield and out wide. He scored seven goals and provided one assist for his parent club this season in the Premier League 2.
Richard Montague, director at Notts County, stated:
“Charlie is another young, high-potential player who we’ve been monitoring for some time.”
Despite this setback County are very confident the squad can still challenge for promotion without their star man.
Notts play Bromley at home in their next league fixture on Saturday.
