The year 2025 – coined “Twenty-Twenty Thrive” – is the perfect time to embrace positive change and start fresh. One transformative way to do this? Declutter and refresh your home.
Nottingham-based professional organiser Lisa Coe has shared her expertise on revamping your living space – not just for aesthetics, but to reduce stress and create a calmer mind. Drawing from her background in psychology, Lisa turned her intuitive desire to help others into a thriving business after a career break.
Trained and accredited by Dilly Carter, one of the UK’s leading professional organisers and star of the BAFTA-nominated show Sort Your Life Out, Lisa understands the profound impact of decluttering. She has worked alongside Dilly as part of her renowned Declutter Dollies team and has had the privilege of contributing behind the scenes of the BBC One programme.

“Life can be overwhelming and busy,” she says. “My advice is to start small. Don’t try to tackle the whole house at once; it sets you up for failure.”
Instead, Lisa recommends focusing on one drawer or cupboard at a time. “In today’s consumption culture, you’ll probably find you have more than one of something. Do you really need that many black vest tops?” she asks.
We live in a world where we often purchase more than we need, so starting with your buying habits is a good call. The key, Lisa says, is establishing achievable habits. “Set a routine and stick to it,” she advises. A tidy space, she believes, truly leads to a tidy mind.
Lisa has noticed that visual clutter particularly affects her female clients. She describes the relief and sense of calm they feel as they transform their homes, finding tranquillity in newly organised spaces and seeing a weight lifted off their shoulders.
Beyond tidying up, Lisa aims to help her clients shift their mindset. “Once you find time to fit organising into your routine, you develop a critical eye for your belongings,” she explains. This change can lead to a more sustainable, stress-free lifestyle.

Lisa’s best tip for tackling the dreaded ‘junk drawer’ (and we all have one) is to give everything a home. “Seventy-five per cent will end up in the bin anyway, so focus on what you need and give it a home,” she advises. To avoid confusion and clutter, drawer organisers can be a game changer.
This principle applies to your whole house too. Finding a home for everything can reduce stress and help you locate what you need faster.

Lisa’s passion for creating calm, organised spaces stems from her belief that a decluttered home contributes to a functional, relaxing, and happy environment, giving you more time to do the things you love.
So, as you kick off the new year, consider the power of a decluttered home to help you thrive in 2025. It’s not just about organising your space – it’s about creating room for a more peaceful, intentional life.
