Brentford freekick goal “our responsibility” says Nuno.

Nottingham Forest had written to the PGMOL to complain about Ivan Toney’s freekick goal in their 3-2 defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

Footage picked up Toney moving referee Darren England’s positioning spray to a more advantageous position.

The Reds head coach voiced his disproval after the match which the club followed up on by writing to Chief refereeing officer, Howard Webb as well as the Premier League.

Speaking at his Bristol City pre match press conference, Espirito Santo said: “We received a response from the incident and it is clear that VAR cannot do anything about the ball displacement.

“I think that is something that they should look at, as it changes the reality of the game.”

The 49-year-old continued: “I think it is our responsibility but also I think the referee should have seen it because there is a clear mark where the ball has been moved.”

Nuno confirmed there is no further injury news with no one returning as the Bristol City game comes too soon for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Taiwo Awoniyi is taking part in light individual training but is still a couple of weeks away from training with the rest of the group.

Espirito-Santo labelled the FA cup as a “special” competition but stated that Friday’s game is “just another match” as they look to pull away from relegation danger.
