Ivan Toney is set to make his long-awaited return to football as Brentford host Nottingham Forest in a huge game at the bottom of the Premier League, this Saturday.

The England international was banned for eight months last May, following a ban for 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules.

Forest go into the game off the back of a thrilling 3-2 extra time victory over Blackpool in the FA Cup on Thursday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side squandered a 2-0 second half lead and needed an 110th minute winner from in-form striker Chris Wood to set up the fourth-round tie away at Bristol City.

The Reds will be without star player Morgan Gibbs-White after the 23-year-old sustained an abdominal injury in training and will spend the next two weeks on the side-lines.

The Africa Cup of Nations sees six first team players unavailable for Forest, the most of any Premier League side.

Ola Aina, Serge Aurier, Ibrahim Sanagre, Willy Boly, Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate will all be out for the trip to the GTECH Community Stadium.

Meanwhile Thomas Frank’s side will be without Saman Ghoddos, Kim Ji-soo, Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa who are with their countries at the Asia cup and Africa Cup of Nations respectively.

The Bees will also be without Rico Henry, Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey, Kristoffer Ajer and Bryan Mbeumo who are all nursing various injuries.

Ben Mee will be available for selection after serving his suspension for a red card against Aston Villa last month.

Brentford suffered different extra-time fortunes to Forest, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup on Tuesday and are now without a win in eight.

Forest sit a place above the West London side, in 15th following back to back league wins against Newcastle and Manchester United but will be leapfrogged by their opponents should they lose.

The bees will be hoping Ivan Toney continues his good scoring record vs Forest as he has three goals in three games vs the East Midlands side.

Toney has played various friendly matches in preparation for his return, including scoring a hat-trick for Brentford’s B team against Southampton Under 23’s

The game will be broadcast live on Sky-Sports this Saturday at 5:30

The Target Prediction: 1-1
