Nottingham Forest fell to a 3-0 defeat last night against Manchester United, leaving Steve Cooper’s side with a hill to climb in the second leg next week.
Marcus Rashford kickstarted the dominant display with a fantastic run and finish just five minutes in, silencing the home crowd.
The atmosphere was jubilant until that opener, which gave Erik ten Hag’s side complete confidence to brush the Reds aside.
Forest did score during the first half, but Sam Surridge’s finish was deemed offside by a VAR check, leaving fans angry due to how close it was.
On Twitter, though, some fans completely understand the decision.
It’s offside. Surridge should have timed his run better. Cooper said as much post match interview. Yes there was no VAR in previous rounds but at the end of the day the right decision was made and I’m a Forest fan. We only played well in a 20 min spell in the first half

Despite understanding, the debate surrounding VAR continues with one fan feeling that the game is less enjoyable with the technology:
I agree that VAR is taking a lot of joy and spontaneity out of the game but when it comes to offside, it’s black and white. It was offside and that’s it, thought forest had a good go and it was a good game but still offside.

The result didn’t necessarily shock anyone due to United’s outstanding quality and form currently, but many fans were disappointed with the score-line.
One fan described it as “the most disappointing match this year.”
Another fan stated their belief that the game was lost in midfield.
That second goal was the killer. I was just saying to my lad if we go in one nil down with the chances we have had we won’t be too upset. We just looked a bit overawed to me. Gave a lot of space away in the middle they just ran and ran with it. We move on.

Either way, Forest are having a decent season and have a lot to be proud of, and the result doesn’t seem to have kicked some fans to the ground.
Outclassed by the better team and no complaints from me. We saw glimpses of what this team can do when we get injuries back and add a bit of quality here and there. I’m still excited for the progress and future. COYR! 🔴⚪️
