A man’s body has been found in Rainworth during the search for a missing man last weekend.
Matthew Gibson, from Rainworth, Mansfield went missing in the early morning of Saturday, January 14 and officers have been searching for him from that point onwards.
A man’s body has since been found on land near Old Newark Road, Rainworth, on Saturday afternoon.
Detective Inspector Andrew Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Whilst formal identification has yet to take place, Mr Gibson’s family have been informed of this very sad discovery.
“We do not believe what happened to be suspicious, but we are keen to understand exactly what has happened.”
Police are urging anyone with additional information to call 101 quoting incident 390 of Sunday, January 15.
