A 30-year-old man has been charged with burglary following the break-in of a food shop on Bramcote Lane, in Chilwell.

The suspect, Paul Chapman, was arrested around 11pm on Friday, January 13th and has been charged with burglary other than a dwelling.

Sergeant Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘I am pleased we’ve now been able to charge a suspect in relation to this case.’

‘Burglary offences bring misery to all involved especially the victims whether that’s a business or family home. The impact they have on businesses can be devastating and affect someone’s livelihood, finances and mental health.’

Officers initially responded to reports that the shop’s alarm was going off, arriving at the scene they were met with glass covering the floor, and reports from the shopkeeper that the suspect had mainly targeted alcohol.

‘We do and continue to take a strong stance on any burglaries reported to us and will always do our best to get to the bottom of exactly what’s happened. In this case, our officers were quick to respond and carry out a fast investigation.’
