Police arrived swiftly to Clifton Campus on Monday

A man is set to appear in court after a stabbing at Nottingham Trent’s Clifton Campus on Monday.

The incident took place in the morning and police were called to the scene at roughly 10:41am, with at least seven police cars present.

The Mary Ann Evans building was cordoned off and there was also an ambulance at the scene.

48-year-old Ryan Usher has been charged with attempted murder as well as possession of a bladed article.

The victim, a staff member in his fifties suffered several injuries, however none are thought to be life-threatening.

Mr Usher, of Waldeck Road, Carrington, has also been charged with assault regarding an incident on Saturday 22 January, where a woman was spat on.

The incident took place on Hucknall Road, Sherwood Rise at some point during the afternoon.

Mr Usher will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later on today (Wednesday, 2 February 2022).

Nottinghamshire Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull said: “Officers have been working hard to investigate Monday’s attack.

“I am pleased that we have now been able to bring a charge not only in this case, but also for another incident where a woman was spat on.”
