Police have arrested a man after a woman was hospitalised following a disturbance in Newark.

The woman was left with bruising to the face and with some of her hair pulled out.

The 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after the incident.

The victim suffered severe bruising during the disturbance that took place on January 31 and was taken to hospital immediately.

Detective Sergeant Dave Nicks, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This kind of violence is totally unacceptable.

I’d like to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police takes such reports extremely seriously and will always investigate, do everything in our power to safeguard victims and look to take robust action against those found to have committed such offences.”
