The highly regarded awards show is expected to host some of the biggest names in music in a night to remember.
With the BRIT awards just around the corner on February 8, many artists – including the likes of Adele and Ed Sheeran – will be hoping to take an award home.
Some of the categories given for the different prizes include: Artist Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, and Album Of The Year.
Artist Of The Year – which has been introduced this year as best “Male” and “Female” artist – will be won by one of five between Adele, Dave, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz, and Sam Fender.
The diverse range of musical genres amongst the nominated artists makes it one of the tightest fights to win the award – which we will try to solve by going over what each have done for the best year to deserve the prize.

Adele
The British star has returned to the nominations after her six-year hiatus from music. To mark her return she released her latest album, 30. The album has 12 songs in total and, as seen in Adele’s past albums, does not have any additional artists featured in it. The Grammy and Oscar winner hopes to make a massive comeback to the scene by taking away the night’s biggest prize – and she definitely has a high chance of doing it.

2. Dave
After releasing his second studio album, Dave returns to the nominations after winning album of the year in 2020’s edition of the BRITs. The artist has gone through one of his best years ever after the good reception his latest album, We are alone in this together, received from the public. The album – which also features the likes of Wizkid and Stormzy – has received a 92% in Metacritic by 11 critics. His fans will definitely be hoping for him to take what would be his second BRIT award.

3. Ed Sheeran
Another artist who has won it all and is looking to take the award for himself. In 2021, Ed Sheeran released his highly anticipated album, = and released a single, Peru, with Stormzy – which currently has more than 36 million reproductions on Spotify – by the end of the year. He will definitely be one to look at due to his past success across different awards ceremonies – including 2015’s BRITs award, to British male solo artist.
That's right! Ed's been nominated for a total of FOUR @BRITs, including 'Album of the Year' & 'Artist of the Year' 🤞🏻🔥 #BRITs pic.twitter.com/EY4IUGffx2

4. Little Simz
Coming from London is this year’s undoubtable revelation in this category. The artist has received her first nominations ever for the BRITs this year, and she has done it by getting all the way to this highly praised category. She has also been nominated in three other categories as she hopes to win a BRIT for the very first time. Her latest album, Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert, has cemented her as one of the most exciting rappers currently – which might just be what she needs to take the prize home.
Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. An album from me to you. OUT NOW!

5. Sam Fender
All the way from the north is the last but definitely not least nominated artist in the category. He has also been nominated in another two categories for this year’s edition of the BRITs. 2021 has been an incredibly successful year for the artist, as he has seen his second hit No1 album with Seventeen Going Under in October. He also saw his track, named the same as the album, trend on TikTok and it currently has more than 52 million reproductions on Spotify.
