The new climbing wall will be built underneath Lady Bay bridge.

Nottingham City Council have granted a new five-year lease to build a bouldering centre underneath Lady Bay bridge.

West Bridgford-based private company Mock Rocks Limited plan to build a low-level rock climbing and refurbish the current climbing wall.

The final nod for this recommendation was given by Nicki Jenkins, Director of Economic Development and Property of the Nottingham City Council.

The area was previously occupied by youth services, whom the council found to have been underutilising the resources.

The bridges team have confirmed that the proposed construction would not interfere with the operation of the bridge in any way.

The services said that they intend to vacate their services to other cities.

The bridge has been owned by Nottingham City Council since 1997 (Unitary Status) but the structure is maintained by Nottinghamshire County Council as part of an agreement with the Bridges and Structures team.
