Basford United have announced they will hold a ‘girls only’ and ‘boys only’ football camps for this coming February half-term.
Both camps will run on February 15 and 16, from 10am until 2pm and are open to children who are between the ages of 6-17. A one-day session is priced at £10, and two days are £16.
Speaking on the ‘girls only’ camp, Basford United’s football director Steve Chettle said the girls can feel “more comfortable” whilst playing with other girls.
He said: “We have run successful camps before with mixed groups of boys and girls in previous holidays, but we are looking at running a girl only section this time.
“The girls sometimes feel more comfortable playing alongside other girls and making new friends with other girls is sometimes easier.
“It gives them the chance to enjoy the sessions and hopefully engage them into potentially playing girls football at the weekends.
“Our sessions are fun based and concentrate on both boys and girls enjoying the experience of playing football and gives everyone the opportunity to play at our excellent facility at Greenwich Avenue.”
The club describe the camps as a fun football experience for girls and boys with quality training sessions, overseen by Basford’s first team and academy coaches.
