A firearm has been recovered and taken away by police after they searched a house.
Officers also arrested a 40-year old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm after making the discovery in Papplewick Lane, Hucknall, and he remains in custody.
An investigation is now under way and is being led by detectives from Nottinghamshire Police following the warrant, which happened at around 9.30pm on Monday, February 1.
Detective Inspector Kim Binns, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a successful warrant which has led to a firearm being recovered and made safe, as well as a man being brought into custody for further questioning.
“Officers are investigating and have been at the property since the discovery last night. They remain on the ground today to continue their searches.
“We continue our enquiries into this and would encourage anyone who may have further information about this to come forward.
“Thankfully firearms offences are rare in Nottinghamshire and we will act on intelligence to take them out of harm’s way at every opportunity
