A 40 year old man has been arrested after attempting to groom a girl sexually who he believed to be just 12 years of age.
Matthew Storey, of Wetherby Close, Aspley, was sexually harassing what he thought was a 12 year old girl in May of last year, asking inappropriate questions and even asking her to send him pictures of her body.
However, He was actually speaking to an undercover police offer from Wales who was passing the information to his Nottinghamshire colleagues.
Storey was arrested shortly after and his phone was seized by police which showed sexual messages with other underage girls.
The man was jailed for a total of three years and four months after being sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 26th January 2021.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to comply with notification requirements, four counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child, as well as further counts of attempting to cause a girl below 13 years of age to engage in sexual activity and making an indecent photo of a child.
“He continues to pose a threat to young people and will again be closely monitored when he is released from prison”, said Detective Constable Laura Alexander, of Nottinghamshire Police.
“This case very clearly demonstrates the lengths the police will go to keep children safe and to punish those who attempt to cause them harm.”
