Two men have been arrested after police found a large amount of cannabis inside a car, following a reported aggravated burglary and street fight.
The commotion occurred in Flatts Lane, Calverton, where police were called a number of times by concerned residents in the early hours of this morning.
The 25 and 36 year-old’s were supposedly on the street, shouting and holding metal bars, before fleeing the scene in vehicles.
The officers were quick to the scene and were praised by Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw who was leading the investigation and expressed “This was excellent work by officers.”
“They searched the area and tracked a car which matched the callers description that had left the scene. Within a car was a large amount of cannabis, which was seized.”
The two men have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and remain in police custody until further notice.
Detective Shaw added “Violent Crime has no place on our streets and we will always take swift and proportionate action against those who commit such offences.
“The large-scale production of illegal drugs has a significant negative impact on our communities that often brings with it violence and other related offending. we are determined to clamp down on the people responsible.”
