Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Aston Villa last night means that the Blues have now played 32 matches without a single defeat, breaking the previous unbeaten run record held by Manchester City.

Emma Hayes’ side have been unbeaten for a period of time stretching back to two years, as their last league defeat came in January 2019, a run that has seen them win a League Cup and a WSL title in 2020, and they currently stand second in this seasons WSL.

Chelsea took a 2-0 lead into half time, with Sam Kerr and Beth England both scoring against The Villains to take the lead at the Bescot Stadium.

Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson added a goal each in the second half to complete the rout and set an incredible record for the most consecutive games unbeaten in Womens’ Super League history.

Hayes stated to the clubs official website that the teams run would not have been possible without the involvement of every single squad player:

“The team has been so well prepared for the accumulation of games, and the training level has been the best it’s been all season. Every player understands that everybody has to contribute every day in training to reach that higher level.”

Chelsea will look to continue their unbeaten run this weekend, as they host fellow London side Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, before the highly-anticipated Continental Cup semi-final with West Ham next week.
