Two burglary victims had food and milk poured over them in an aggravated burglary last night.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to Vellus Court in Sutton-in-Ashfield following a report of an aggravated burglary around 7 pm on January 25.

A mother and daughter were forced to sit on the kitchen floor as they had food, milk and water poured over them after they were assaulted during the burglary.

It was reported that five men knocked on the door and attacked the victims with a long metal stick.

A quantity of high-value Asian jewellery was stolen in the burglary.

Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw, the leading officer on the investigation said:

“This must have been a very frightening experience for those involved.

“The victims suffered injuries and an ambulance was called. A large police presence was swiftly on the scene and saw that the victims covered in food and liquid.“

Detective Sergeant Shaw then continued: “We would reassure people that reports such as this are taken very seriously and will thoroughly investing where this happened.”

“We are following up a number of lines of enquiry to get these men in custody but I would appeal for anyone who has information, CCTV or dash-cam footage of anything suspicious in the area to come forward as soon as possible especially between the times of 6 pm and 7.15 pm.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 548 of 25 January 2021
