A 17-year-old is due in court after being charged in connection with an alleged aggravated burglary that involved two men armed with weapons.

The teenager, who cannot be named due to legal reasons is charged with aggravated burglary.

The charge relates to an incident that was reported to have occurred in Spencer Street, Mansfield on Thursday, January 21.

The boy was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, January 26.

It’s alleged that the two suspects were armed with a machete and a crowbar, smashed a door down in order to gain access into the property.

They left empty handed and no one was injured during the attack.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, January 24, in connection to the aggravated burglary has been released on conditional bail.

Detective Inspector Nick Hall, said: “He force takes reports of burglaries and weapon-related offences extremely seriously. 

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I’m pleased that as a result of a lot of hard work on the investigation we have now been able to bring a suspect before the court.”
