The emergency services have been called to a crash on a junction on Arnold Lane and Plains Road following a gas leak.

The junction outbound on to Mapperley Plains is currently closed whilst workers continue to try and resolve the issue.

NCT bus routes have been affected by the closure.

“Sky Blue 46, 47 are unable to serve Mapperley Plains due to an RTC at the Arnold Lane junction,” NCT said in a Tweet.

“Buses are diverting via Gedling Road, Ramsey Drive and Coppice Road in both directions.”

Sergeant Iain Blackstock, from Nottinghamshire Police’s Control Room, said: “We’re aware that traffic is building up in the area due to the closure and officers are assisting with directing and helping the flow of traffic.

“Work has been ongoing at the junction and this closure has come as a result of urgent work being required to fix a gas leak.

“Anyone travelling in the area, which I would remind people should only be essential journeys, should be aware that the closure is in place and should plan their route accordingly whilst work is ongoing to make the road safe.”
