A 23-year-old man and 16-year-old boy have been arrested by officers following the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in the Bestwood area.

Police were called to Oxclose Lane around 3:30pm on Tuesday 4 February.

A boy had been stabbed in his lower back. He is currently in hospital following surgery for an injury not believed to be life-threatening.

The 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article.

The teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Buxton said: “We take knife crime incredibly seriously and will investigate all reports thoroughly.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the wider public. However, if you have any concerns, please do get in touch with us.”

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
