Callum Milner, 20, celebrating winning the East Midlands Welterweight title


The East Midlands welter weight champion is set to face off in the ring again.

Callum Milner, 20, from Wakefield is a student at Nottingham Trent University and will be competing in the National University Championships for boxers across the UK.

He said: “After winning the East Midlands Welterweight title, my focus has shifted to the university championships with my goals set high.”

The event is a knockout tournament with individuals placed into a category depending on their weight.

There are eight people per category with one gold medallist winner

The gold medallist will earn points for the university.

Before the tournament this weekend, Callum said: “Training and weight cut has been difficult however I have put the work in now so the results will show.”

Callum will be fighting under the 69kg category where he we will be fighting in three to minute rounds.

He won the title of East Midlands Welterweight in Nottingham in November 2019 against the holder of the belt.

He is still to defend his belt in title match, but he hopes to face someone in the next few months.
