Stand Together is the theme to mark Holocaust Memorial day which was commemorated as part of a civic service in Nottingham today (Monday 27 January).
The event took place at the Council House in Old Market Square and saw community representatives, young and old, come together to mark the special day.
- It was organised jointly by the Nottingham Interfaith Council, One Nottingham, Nottingham City Homes and Nottingham City Council.
A separate event, in the north of the county, was held at The National Holocaust Centre and Museum, in Laxton.
Young people from several schools were invited to take part in the anniversary event.
A spokesman said: “We’ve got schools in today who are listening to Holocaust survivor Bob Norton and a candle is being lit in the commemoration service.”
The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service also visited the National Holocaust Centre in to pay their respects and to listen to the talk from the survivor.
