Nottingham Forest and Derby are having contrasting seasons, and will be looking to the January market to strengthen their squads.
Nottingham Forest are gearing up to strengthen their playoff push in Januarys transfer window both by offloading dead weight and looking to add a key name or two.
Firstly, club record signing Joao Carvalho has been linked with a move away from the club after a shaky start to life in the East Midlands.
He retains the backing of manager Sabri Lamouchi, insisting he is still a “key part” of his plans.
However, he has been linked heavily with a move abroad after failing to find his feet after an early injury.
Carvalho was bought in the summer for a club record £13.2m from Portugese giants Benfica. However, he has struggled to find his place among a Forest side pushing for a promotion to England’s top leagues.
Elsewhere, rivals Derby are favourites to land former Chelsea keeper Asmir Begovic.
The experienced stopper is currently on loan from parent club Bournemouth.
As well as Derby, the Bosnian is also linked with West Ham, Birmingham and Dutch side PSV Einthoven.
