Christmas season is upon us, and it’s time to enjoy a warm mulled wine, a hot mince pie and your favourite festive film on the TV.

It’s finally time to embrace the Christmas spirit with the top 5 bars for your festive night in Nottingham.

Thor’s tipi

Step inside the Viking-inspired tipi for warming tipples, Canadian style food and a roaring fire. This is a great new addition for Nottingham over the Christmas period, with so many mulled wines, ciders, baileys hot chocolate and classic beers to choose from. Food is also served at the tipi from 12-6, including a delicious dish of cheese curds, gravy and cheese! What’s not to love on a cold day? The only criticism I would have is you do leave smelling like a bonfire thanks to the firepit.

Where: Trinity Square, Nottingham, NG1 4AF

When: 15 November to 31 December everyday from 10am to 11pm

Every Day is Christmas Pop up Extravaganza bar
Wish every day could be Christmas? Now it can be with the new pop up bar taking over the upstairs of Billy Bootleggers with festive cheer. Decked with baubles, tinsel and candy canes, they’re definitely right in calling it an extravaganza. There’s everything from mulled wine to Christmas cocktails and 22 espresso martinis to choose from. It doesn’t end there, if you’re craving a Christmas dinner that tastes home cooked, this is the place to go. They also screen all your favourite Christmas films, so get ready for a Home Alone Marathon!

In the heart of Nottingham’s Christmas Market, you can’t miss the Altitude bar. An all glass chalet, this is the perfect place for a winter warmer after a hard day’s shopping at the markets. There are cushions and throws on Swiss-style wooden benches, making it a great place to cosy up with a private DJ playing classic Christmas tunes. The food menu doesn’t disappoint, with a list of different food vendors from the markets offering everything from Bratwursts to pulled pork buns.

400 Rabbits

The Mexican themed bar, found down an alleyway in the city centre, is offering Christmas drinks with a goodwill twist. The bar has four new Christmas cocktails at £7, with £2 of the money being donated to Emmanuel House, a Nottingham charity supporting homeless people. Two of the new drinks are definitely worth trying: The Merry Navidad (tequila, raspberries, cranberry and white chocolate), El Chapulin (mint, chocolate, and tequila).

Sur La Piste

Described as ‘urban apres ski’, this is another chalet-style lodge worth visiting in the Christmas Markets this year. Furry throws for you to wrap around yourself are scattered around the lodge, with exciting live music in the evening. The venue also serves fresh unpasteurised beer and is definitely the destination to have a fun night with friends.
