Nottingham rugby fans believe “the future is bright”, despite the England team’s World Cup defeat.
England came so close to winning the Rugby World Cup, but faced a very strong South Africa team who claimed a 32 – 12 victory in Japan.
Fans who watched the game from pubs in the city said they were “disappointed” in the result after a “fantastic” tournament.
John Peacock, 20, who said he has been “adopted by Nottingham rugby culture” since moving to the city from Leeds, said that he was “gutted” but added that: “The future looks bright regardless of the result.”
Another fan Marcus Rose, 20, of Lenton, said he was still proud despite the defeat. He added: “Obviously I’m not happy, but when we look back on it in a few weeks, we will appreciate how well the team has actually done.”
The fans were among dozens who watched the game at O’Neill’s in Old Market Square, Nottingham.
