A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after he was chased and detained by a member of the public.
Police arrested the 39-year-old man shortly after they attended the home of an 87-year-old victim of burglary.
The force received a report the woman, who lives in Lenton, had items taken from her house, including her purse which contained a small quantity of cash, yesterday morning (Monday, May 6).
While officers were at the victim’s home later that day they were told by a neighbour that the suspect was outside the victim’s address and had ran off.
Officers carried out a search of the area and found the neighbour who raised the alarm had chased and detained the suspect following a struggle.
The 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and common assault and remains in police custody.
