The hit play Wonderland is heading back to Nottingham by popular demand and the cast has been busy rehearsing to make sure everything is perfect for opening night this Friday.

Wonderland is a spirited drama which focuses on the 1980s miners’ strike in Nottinghamshire.

The miners’ strike began in 1984 with the announcement that 20 pits were to close and 20,000 people would lose their jobs. The strike lasted until March 1985 and included the contentious Battle of Orgreave and Battle of Cortonwood, changing mining communities forever.

Wonderland writer Beth Steel remembers the time her own father worked as a miner in Nottinghamshire and wanted to bring his stories to life on stage.
