Tony Leathers, 49 says he has pulled a sickie before.

Today is National Sickie Day – the day when most people come up with an excuse not to go into work.

It was estimated that 350,000 people were absent from work on this day last year.

This is supposedly down to people celebrating the end of Dry January, and others re-evaluating their career paths meaning that the have to attend job interviews.

The next highest day for unplanned absences last year was March 1 which was down to the Beast from the East causing disruption.

We asked the people of Nottingham what their best excuses were and whether it is a bad thing do to or not.
