Mansfield Town have confirmed the signing of Gethin Jones on loan from Fleetwood Town for the remainder of the season.
Jones, 23, plays at right wing-back and is a product of Everton’s academy, notably helping their U18 side to Premier League youth success in 2014.
Born in Perth, he is eligible to represent either Australia or Wales, where he has represented the latter at U17, U19, and U21 level.
Jones said he was delighted with the move.
“I’ve seen how well Mansfield are doing and was made up when Fleetwood told me that they wanted to take me on loan.
“This is a perfect place for me to get gametime,” he said.
The ex-Plymouth and Barnsley loanee also said: “I haven’t played as many games as I’d have liked to, so the plan was to always to go out on loan this January.
“I want to get as many games as possible and help the team in their ambitions of promotion to League One.”
Smith has trained and is in contention to feature in tonight’s League Two clash at Forest Green.
