The ex-legend has been appointed as Nottingham Forest’s assistant coach today after lengthy talks with the club.
The former Forest midfielder worked with O’Neill at the Republic of Ireland national team before their departure in November last year.
The Irishman has been linked to the club and was seen at the City Ground on Saturday, watching the Red’s 3-1 victory over Wigan.
Keane spent three years at the club in the early 1990’s before signing with Manchester United.
O’Neill made it clear he wanted Keane to join him at Forest when he took over earlier this month.
The newly appointed duo will try put an end to the Red’s 20-year absence from the top flight.
The club sits at ninth in the Championship, four points off the playoffs.
