A neon yellow bus campaigning against Brexit drove through Nottingham on Monday displaying a message that some described as ‘provocative and dividing’.
The bus says ‘B****cks to Brexit’ on the side and is urging people to write to their local MPs to demand a final say on the vote.
The bus will tour through most of the UK, including Leicester, Cambridge and Manchester, before continuing on to Brussels and Ireland.
Madeleina Kay, the co-organiser of the tour, hopes the bus will inspire people to take Brexit into their own hands.
“We’re sick of listening to politicians in their suits boring everyone to death. It’s very patronising, very technical, and at the end of the day most people are sick of hearing about Brexit.”
“We want to give people the final say, so that’s what we’re asking you to do. Write to your MP, demand the final say”
Accompanying the ‘B****cks to Brexit’ slogan on the side of the bus is the phrase ‘It’s not a done deal’, which is what the organisers hope to remind people.
“We just want to stand up and say you know what? B****cks to this. B****cks to the politicians” Madeleina continued. We want to give people the final say, so that’s what we’re asking you to do. Write to your MP, demand the final say.”
Hours after the bus arrived in Nottingham, Theresa May announced she was calling off the vote on the EU withdrawal deal.
The Prime Minister was expected to lose the Brexit vote that was to be held in Parliament on Tuesday night.
