Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following reports of a stabbing in The Meadows.

An alleyway and play park in Beardsley Gardens was cordoned off following a report at 9.43 pm on Monday 5 November that a man had been stabbed in the chest.

The victim was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries.

A 27-year-old man was arrested.

The victim and the man are reported to have known each other, a spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said.

Residents expressed their concerns surrounding the incident.

One woman, 28, of Beardsley Gardens, did not want to be named but said: “I’ve only just moved to the area and me and my little boy don’t feel safe here.”

Another Beardsley Gardens resident, 68, also wished to remain anonymous.

She added: “We never used to have anything like this when I was a kid, the area has become worse and worse. It never used to be like this.”

The police have added that enquires into the incident are ongoing.
