The East Midlands’ biggest firework event took place last night (November 5) just outside of Nottingham city centre.

More than 40,000 spectators gathered at the Forest Recreation Ground, Forest Fields, to see two separate firework displays and a roaring bonfire, all for free.

There were also traditional family fairground rides to keep the little ones busy, larger rides for the adrenaline junkies and food stalls to suit every taste.

After the firework display, visitors queued for the tram.

Nottingham City Council and local events group Mellors organised the event to celebrate the anniversary of Guy Fawkes’s failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

Councillor Dave Trimble, portfolio holder for leisure and localities at Nottingham City Council, said: “We are proud to provide this incredibly popular free event to celebrate Bonfire Night.”
