Nottingham Panthers kickstart the weekend with a home clash against Manchester Storm for the last group game of the Challenge Cup.

A win in tonight’s relegation would see the Panther’s top their group and have the upper hand going into the quarter-finals.

The face off begins at 7:30pm at the Motor Point Arena, which is already close to sold out.

“Really excited about tonight. The team have done so well getting to this point.” Kate Spratt, 31.

The Panthers are competition favourites, having won the cup title eight times, including five wins in succession between 2010 and 2014.

Manchester Storm will prove a difficult opponent for the Panthers, having reached the cup final in 2016 and losing out in overtime against the Belfast Giants.

Panthers last faced Storm at the Altrincham Ice Dome on October 3, for the first round of Challenge Cup action.

At neck and neck Storm stole a late goal in the final 50 seconds of the game to make it 4-3.

Games in the 2017/2018 season were all closely fought between the Panthers and Storm.

Two matches had to be settled in a tense penalty shoot out, with the victory going Storm’s way.

Fans are looking forward to the fixture, Kate Spratt, 31 said: “Really excited about tonight.

“The team have done so well getting to this point, hopefully their hard work will pay off.

“I’ll be cheering until I lose my voice, Proud Panthers fan for life.”

Panthers player to watch:

Canadian professional, number 49, Alex Bolduc makes his debut in tonight’s game.

The 6 ft 3ins forward has been confirmed in the starting line up.

Fans hope he will make a big impact on the ice and terrorise Storm’s defencemen.

Opposition man to watch:

Number 79 Shane Bakker is storming through his second season with the club.

Bakker was awarded man of the match in his last game on October 28 against the Belfast Giants.

The Canadian forward’s scoring precision and ability to assist will prove a challenge for the Nottingham side.
