A primary school in Old Basford has won a nationwide competition – and will be sending a luck class of young holiday goes to Majorca.

East Midlands region’s Ultimate School Trip to Sol Katmandu Park & Resort in Majorca.

Southwark Primary School won the Ultimate School Trip prize, organised by Jet2 Holidays.


The competition involved primary school classes across the UK designing promotional pieces for Katmandu Park, a destination in Majorca.

On the 7th March, Emmerdale celebrity, Anthony Quinlan, chose the shortlist of five schools from Jet2holidays’ nine UK airport regions: Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Newcastle Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, Manchester Airport, East Midlands Airport, Birmingham Airport, London Stansted Airport and Belfast Airport.

Southwark primary school was shortlisted amongst 44 other schools in the UK.

The public were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite video out of all entries via Jet2holiday’s social media channels.

The public vote ran from 9am on Monday, March 12 2018 to 18:00 on Friday  March, 16 2018.

Southwark Primary School received the most public votes within the East Midlands airport region and will be jetting off to Majorca from 20th to the 22nd of April 2018.

The school’s Twitter page tweeted: “We still can’t believe it!! We have won the East Midlands region’s Ultimate School Trip!! Huge thanks to and anyone who voted for us!@SolKatmandu here we come!!
