Nottingham Synchronised Skating Academy have won six gold medals at the UK championships this weekend.

All six Nottingham teams won golds in their heats with Icicles getting the highest score of the day.

Esther Morris, skating coach, said: “I am incredibly proud of the girls today, we got six golds, it’s a great feeling for us to be going home with so many.

“We feel really good with how they all skated, the girls work incredibly hard to manage it around their school work”.

Nottingham have six teams with a range of ages from 7 to 19 know as Ice Pops, Silhouettes, Basic Novice, Shadows, Icicles and Rocking Robins.

They skated alongside 62 other teams at the championships, which took place this weekend at the Nottingham Ice Centre.

Jasmine Berry, 9, from Silhouettes and Ice Pops, said: “My favourite thing about being on the ice is that you’re not on your own when you’re in a competition and you make loads of friends.

“My teams got gold medals and that made me feel very happy”.

The teams hope to be invited to the World Championships which are taking place in Croatia, in March following their success this weekend.
