Prince Harry and Meghan Markle meet the people of Nottingham

Nottingham was treated to some Hollywood glamour and some right royal rigmarole today (Friday, 1 December) when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle descended on the city.

Crowds of well-wishers gathered at Nottingham Contemporary to cheer on the couple in their first official engagement together since their marriage plans were announced on Monday.

The pair took time out on their short walk to the Weekday Cross gallery to talk to youngsters and the young at heart who had waited in the cold to see the happy couple before they met city dignitaries and representatives from a Terence Higgins Trust charity fair to mark World Aids Day.

They then moved on to the Nottingham Academy about a programme helping prevent young people from turning to violence and crime.
