Nottingham Trent and Loughborough Men’s Rugby Unions are getting involved with Movember and are trying to raise thousands for the charity.

Movember Foundation aims to help raise awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.

Joshua Toms, 21, Chair of Men’s Rugby Union at Loughborough University said, “We are aiming to raise £2,000 and so far have raised £850, but are currently 9th or 10th in the university Movember challenge league.”

Both Universities are focusing on raising money for mental health and suicide prevention.

“I think men’s health and sport go hand in hand and it’s a topic that isn’t talked about but it should be.”

According to the Movember Foundation one man every minute takes their own lives. Movember aims to help reduce men’s suicide rate.

“We have 160 members in our club alone and I’m sure each and every one of them will go through a low point in their life where they will need help. This encourages them not to be quiet and to speak out about it.”
