A group of young karate students have successfully raised more than £300.

The students at DKC Karate Club, in Bobbers Mill, Nottingham, participated in Muslims Hand’s Gaza Winter Walk on Sunday 12 February.

The Gaza Winter Walk is a five-mile walk that aims to raise awareness and money for expectant mothers and newborn babies in the Gaza strip.

A total of 17 students aged between 5 and 11 raised £346.50, smashing their target of £250.

The group leader, Daniyaal Davis, said: “They all walked through the wind, rain, snow, puddles and mud for five miles to raise awareness and donations for newborn babies and expectant mothers.”

The group are no strangers to fundraising, having done fundraisers for Children in Need and Syrian Refugees before.

Muslim Hands charity group, based in Nottingham, organised the walk around Wollaton Park  with all the money raised going towards the aid effort in the Gaza strip.
