A ‘high end’ Italian restaurant chain has opened its doors in West Bridgford – the first of its kind in the region.

Newly appointed general manager of Gusto, Tom Shacklock, said: “We had a really successful opening night and the feedback we’ve had from customers so far has been brilliant.”

The restaurant offers an extensive menu of mainly Italian dishes ranging from pizzas and pastas to an impressive grill with steaks and seabass.

Charlotte Dove, 24, from Cotgrave who ate at Gusto last night, said: “I absolutely love the new restaurant, it had a great atmosphere.

“Décor was really chic and the food was delicious.

“It’s a good place for a date night or a night out with the girls.”

Other customers also said the place was almost full and busy with a “buzzy atmosphere”.

Tom said how excited he was to be a part of the team at Gusto and return to his roots in the ‘booming’ restaurant scene.

Sue Crimes, managing director at Gusto, said: “It’s great to have Tom on board as our new general manager.

“With a great deal of experience in the restaurant scene, and this being his third restaurant opening, he is more than capable of bringing the West Bridgford branch to life.”

Described as ‘high-end dining’ the restaurant currently has 15 other branches but is the first to have opened in the East Midlands.

It is located on the high street which has replaced the Monkey Tree bar and restaurant to bring West Bridgford’s wining and dining scene back to life.

The latest restaurant has provided over 50 jobs for the city including bar staff, waiters and chefs.
