Beyoncé: everyone has heard her name, everyone has heard her music, everyone seems to be utterly obsessed with her and its almost taboo to slate her… Sadly, I am just not so crazy in love with Beyoncé.
Two days ago Beyoncé announced her pregnancy with twins and the world went mental, but I just don’t get the whole Queen B obsession. She’s overrated. *GASP*.
In a post on her Instagram account, Beyoncé uploaded a photo of her pregnant self wearing lingerie, draped in a green veil and clutching her pregnant stomach. Captioning the image “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters.”
She quickly broke the world record for the most liked photo on Instagram, gaining 6.33 million likes in less than eight hours. It has since grown to over nine million.
Since posting, Beyoncé has also uploaded a series of other extremely dramatic images to her website, showing off her pregnancy, much to her loyal followers’ delight. Why the need? I am not quite sure.
Beyoncé is not an ‘artist’. She doesn’t write or create her own music. She simply sings what she is given and makes millions from doing so. I am not denying that the girl has talent, but she is simply a performer and nothing more. And yes, she does that well, she’s a great dancer and she sings live, but she is no better than any other performers out there.
I don’t understand the complete obsession with her latest album, Lemonade, either. It’s nothing special, nothing compared to her older music, songs like ‘Single Ladies’ and ‘Crazy in Love’ and the fact that it was accompanied by a one-hour film which aired on HBO is just ridiculous.
I think ‘Bey’ definitely receives more credit than she deserves. She is a great business woman, may I add, becoming the highest paying celebrity couple along with husband, Jay Z. She knows what she is doing, she knows the world is obsessed with her and she, along with her clever PR team, control and manipulate that to ensure that she stays ‘on top’ and has a constant supply of cash in her pocket. A business venture one must admire.
