With today being a day to go down in history, the people of Nottingham, including MP Chris Leslie and Annie Vox of Annie’s Burger Shack, have their say on what they think of candidates Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton and the impact they have here.
Today, November 8, 2016, the US will vote for who they want in office in arguably the most controversial race to Presidency in history.
This election has been one covered widely across the globe with everyone knowing exactly who Trump and Clinton are. This election affects everyone.
MP Chris Leslie said: “It’s a really big deal – if the US start imposing trade tariffs on the rest of the world then our cost of living will rise; if the US economy takes a turn for the worse, then our pensions and prosperity will be adversely affected.”
“If America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.”
Annie Vox, from Rhode Island, New England, spoke about the impact the President of the USA has on the world.
She said: “It’s going to affect us, this is not just about America and about a new President. This is about becoming one of the most powerful people on the planet. That is the issue, you need somebody who is going to know what is going on in the world.”
When asked why she thought this election was more newsworthy than any other Annie said: “How entertaining has it been? You can’t not watch it. It’s like a moth to a flame.”
“All of these social issues that have been so neglected, she [Clinton] has been there at the forefront pushing and pushing and pushing.”
You don’t have to be an MP or an American to care about this election, as the people of Nottingham showed today when asked their opinions.
The US Election results are expected to start coming through from midnight (GMT) onward.
